UCC PASTOR AT UNITED COMMUNITY CHURCH

BIRTH: Hi! I am Betty Crowell. My life began in West Texas, where I was born. Growing up in Texas saddled me with some pretty big ideas and the need to explore my faith in depth. I became a Christian in my teens and the Christian walk has been anything but boring.

UNIVERSITY STUDENT: Upon entering the University stage of my life, I found that I was a perpetual student, finding too many areas that interested me and accumulating way too many certificates and degrees. This quest for knowledge, however, did not fulfill the deep need embedded in my soul.

FAMILY:Steve is my husband and he has been my partner in life for over 40 years. We have 3 children and 4 grandchildren. Steve is a Texas oil man through and through, but most people describe him as "one of the most generous people they've ever known". Our children are spread out from Colorado to New York to Georgia, but we make it a habit to vacation together once or twice a year.

MINISTRY: That deep need in my soul was re-activated late in my professional career as a teacher and administrator. After taking the Disciple Bible Study, my heart was turned toward formal ministry and following Jesus more diligently. Doing what I love to do, I enrolled myself in school once more and began the road to ordained ministry.

ARGENTINA: The Texan I call my husband had an opportunity to serve in Argentina in 1995 and I went along for the ride, knowing that God could use me anywhere. I have been serving in the United Community Church since May 1996: Minister of Christian Education; Associate Pastor; Senior Pastor.

AUTHENTICITY: It is my belief that I am here in this place at this time to continue my Christian journey while at the same time to lead and encourage others to live out their lives in relationship to God through Jesus Christ. My prayer is that I can live my life in relationship to God and be authentic in the world. When all else fails and falls away - there is still God!

JOIN THE WALK: If you want to be part of a community who works and prays together to discover God's design for our lives, join us for worship and fellowship. All who seek will find. UCC welcomes everyone. Our crossroads church stands ready to encourage, empower and equip you for your journey with Christ, so that you may go and do likewise.
