Christmas Letter |
December 2011
Dear UCC Members and Friends,
Christmas is just around the corner and all that comes with this holiday season will soon be here. Christmas can be the best time of year for us packed with joy, family and friends. However, we know that Christmas can bring the emotions of sadness and loneliness into our lives. Our desire at the United Community Church is that no one will spend Christmas alone, so we offer you a special opportunity to spend time with your UCC family as you experience the joy of hearing Christmas carols and songs while you enjoy, And He Shall Reign. This Christmas Program will be presented by the UCC choir and readers. Please help us to help others find some Christmas joy by inviting them to the UCC special Christmas Program. This program will be part of our service on Sunday morning the 11th of December and the UCC Choir will present this program again for the Community on Sunday the 11th of December at 6:00PM in the evening. The Global Garden preschool singers ages 2-5 years will be featured participants. Refreshments will follow.
As a church family, UCC is preparing for the coming of Christmas. The congregation looks forward in a special way to celebrating with church members and friends the real meaning of Christmas. We also prepare to greet and warmly embrace those who seem to come only at Christmas time and other Holidays. Our prayer is that all members would carry Christmas in their hearts all year long and attend UCC on a regular basis and share the joy of Christ with others.
Most people know that when people are invited to come to church, they are more likely to become regular church attenders. Sometimes they are just waiting to be asked. Reasons for staying away from church are many. Some have simply gotten out of the habit of attending. Others may have experienced a struggle with faith and may not know how to come for help. Some might feel embarrassed to return after a period of absence. Sometimes people simply need to know they are cared for and have a graceful opportunity to return. Christmas gives them just that opportunity.
Christmas is the time of the year when most people feel the need to give and share. This is a great time to draw people back to church. UCC would love to celebrate the birth of Jesus through carols and readings as we present And He Shall Reign. Additionally, we would like to invite you to the Christmas Eve Service of Candles and Carols at 7:30PM on December the 24th and truly let the real meaning of Christmas open your hearts to having Christmas all year long. Take a few moments to consider people you know who do not attend church. Reach out to them and invite them to share Christmas at UCC. Enclosed you will find a special card that is an invitation to our Christmas celebrations on December 11th 2aand December 24th. Please give these invitations to people who may want a family Christmas and who may need a Savior. If they need some encouragement, offer them the gift of Christ and offer to bring them with you.
Christmas is always more joyful when everybody's gathered around to celebrate together. Let's pray that many may leave the darkness and come into the light as we celebrate this Christmas Eve.
In the Joy of His Coming,
Pastor Betty Crowell
